The Vietnam War was raging in 1967, and John Woo uses this setting for another of his epic productions. Three friends in Hong Kong are not only on the run but feel stifled by the archaic Hong Kong rule. Thus, they flee to Vietnam where they intend to make money on the crime scene. Instead, they become involved with wartime events that challenge their friendship and lives.
