Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island" has been reset to Treasure Planet in this Disney animated sci-fi film that takes place in outer space. Young Jim Hawkins (voice of Joseph Gordon-Levitt) travels across the universe as part of the crew of the spaceship R.L.S. Legacy, which is captained by Amelia (voice of Emma Thompson). A pirate, Billy Bones (voice of Patrick McGoohan), has given Jim a treasure map showing how to reach Treasure Planet, and Jim's purpose in signing on to the ship is to search for the treasures hidden there. Jim becomes friends with crew member John Silver (voice of Brian Murray) and learns that he is part cyborg and plans a mutiny. When Jim opts out of the mutiny, he finds an ally in marooned robot B.E.N. (voice of Martin Short) and tries to defend law and order.
