But, when Joan is troubled by problems with men and her sagging career, it is the children who bear the brunt of her problems. As they grow up, Christina and Christopher (now played by Diana Scarwid and Xander Berkeley) have memories of brutal treatment at the hands of their mother that continue to have an effect on them.
