After removing a piece of gold from the hoof of a horse, Jerry and Jake track down the mine and find gold. The local assayers (Lloyd Whitlock and Yakima Canutt) are crooks and shoot Jake when he will not tell them where the mine is. Jerry is charged with the murder, but Jerry has already rescued Jake who was left for dead and makes plans to trap the assayers during his trial.
