But 10-year-old Devon (Mischa Barton), unlike her social-climbing parents, ignores her neighbors and chooses 21-year-old Trent Burns (Sam Rockwell) as her friend. Trent lives in a trailer and mows lawns. Their friendship grows but, of course, would be unacceptable to any of Devon's "classy" neighbors.
