The jealous butler, Edgar (voice of Roddy Maude-Roxby), abandons the cats in the French countryside so that he will have the fortune. But, there are rescuers out there in the form of alley cat Thomas O'Malley (voice of Phil Harris), mouse Roquefort (voice of Sterling Holloway), and hounds Lafayette and Napoleon (voices of George Lindsey and Pat Buttram) who come to their aid, and by story's end the cats are back home where they belong.
