After Bobby's grandmother Evangeline (Ruby Dee) delivers Bobby's letter asking Paul for help, he agrees to investigate. Despite the fact that he has not practiced law for 25 years, Paul heads to Florida with his wife Laurie (Kate Capshaw) and young daughter Katie (Scarlett Johansson). As he uncovers clues during the investigation, Paul finds that his own life has become endangered.
