Red Stoval (Clint Eastwood) is a tubercular alcoholic who travels to Nashville to sing at the Grand Ole Opry. Along for the ride is Red's nephew Whit (Kyle Eastwood) who serves as his uncle's protector. Red's Grandpa (John McIntire) and aspiring singer Marlene (Alexa Kenin) also join them on the interesting trek. Clint Eastwood's son Kyle makes his acting debut in this film, and he IS good.
