Misfit Dare Rudd (John Wayne) shows up at cousin Tom's (Johnny Mack Brown) ranch and is offered a job heading a cattle drive. After "stealing" Tom's girlfriend, Dare gets taken by crooked gamblers (who also tried to rustle cattle in Dare's charge). The cousins team up to take care of the bad guys.
