A family flees Soviet-dominated Hungary and migrates to the U.S., but the parents (Nastassja Kinski and Tony Goldwyn) take their daughter Maria with them and must leave their baby daughter Suzanne behind. Six years later, the American Red Cross facilitates a reunion, and Suzanne (Kelly Endresz-Balanki) is brought to the U.S. where more problems ensue over the next nine years with a perplexed Suzanne failing to adapt to her new home and country. This is Suzanne's (now played by Scarlett Johansson) story as seen through her eyes as a 15-year-old who revisits Hungary in an attempt to come to terms with the circumstances of her life. An uplifting story for all ages.
