When they are assigned to cover a murder case involving arson, Ellen gets enough evidence for Maitland Coulter (Gordon Westcott) to be arrested and out-scoops Curt. But, Ellen's story is incorrect, and she is fired. Now, Ellen continues on the case, gets a confession from the murderer, Coulter is released, and Ellen and Curt discover that they love each other.
