Bobby cannot stand the atmosphere in his family's upper-class mansion and seduces his uptight brother Carl's (Ralph Waite) fiancee Catherine (Susan Anspach). Now pulled between Rayette and Catherine and his family, Bobby cannot decide which way to go and simply runs away from it all. Several Oscar nominations were received including Best Picture, Actor (Nicholson), and Supporting Actress (Black).
