He is also an ambassador to England and heads an international youth council from which he gains followers to perform his evil deeds. When Damien sees a sign indicating the second coming of Christ on March 24th, in an effort to track down a reborn Jesus, he orders his followers to kill as many babies as possible who were born on that date. Matters come to a head when a band of Italian monks try to stop the killings and set out to assassinate Damien.
