In 1919, members of the Chicago White Sox conspired to lose the World Series for personal gain. Known as the "Black Sox" scandal, this is the story of how eight team members deliberately lost the World Series because of a labor dispute with the White Sox owner, Charles Comiskey (Clifton James). Third baseman Buck Weaver (John Cusack) spent years trying to prove his innocence after the eight players were suspended for life.
