They plan to work as cowboys on one of Mexico's many cattle ranches. Along the way, the duo hooks up with Jimmy (Lucas Black), but misfortune follows, and they part company. More misfortune lies ahead when they get work on Don Hector Rocha's (Ruben Blades) horse ranch, and Cole becomes romantically involved with Don Hector's daughter, Alejandra (Penelope Cruz).
