General Groves (Brian Dennehy) heads up the Manhattan Project and works diligently toward the single goal of building the ultimate weapon. He appoints Robert Oppenheimer (David Strathairn) to head up the Los Alamos Laboratory in New Mexico. Oppenheimer questions the consequences of their efforts but continues on to the final goal.
