Cocoon   1985         PG-13, 118 min. Genre: Sci-Fi Director: Ron Howard   Cast: Don Ameche, Wilford Brimley, Hume Cronyn, Steve Guttenberg, Jessica Tandy, Brian Dennehy, Jack Gilford, Tahnee Welch, Maureen Stapleton, Gwen Verdon   Ron Howard's fun and well-made film concerns aliens retrieving "friends" stored undersea for 10,000 years and then placing them in an abandoned pool. They encounter old folks from a retirement home who have discovered that the cocoons have incredible restorative powers. The "old folks" are terrific, especially Don Ameche who won an Oscar for his performance.
