For the next 20 years, Louie's best friend Philip (Ryan O'Neal) serves as the surrogate father for Corinne's daughter Miranda (Mary Stuart Masterson). Meanwhile, Louie's soul is reincarnated in the body of Alex Finch (Robert Downey Jr.). Now, Alex and Miranda become involved romantically, and Alex's memory of his life as Louie comes back to him.
