Troy, as captain of the Wildcat basketball team, has won another championship and cannot decide between going on with basketball or choosing a theater career. Gabriella has decided to accept an early admission to Stanford, which will mean a separation from Troy. In the midst of their changing lives, Troy and Gabriella join the other Wildcats in staging a Spring musical that will reflect what is going on in their lives as they reach the end of high school and plan for the future.
