High-school biology teacher Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberg) and his wife Alma (Zooey Deschanel), along with Elliot's colleague Julian (John Leguizamo) and his eight-year-old daughter Jess (Ashlyn Sanchez), try to escape. Then, Julian leaves Jess with the Moores while he tries to locate his missing wife. The trio joins other refugees, and they find corpses everywhere along their path as they try to escape the deadly phenomenon.
