Needing a break, he joins his friend Donald Evans (Frank Hawks) on a flight to Alaska where they are forced to make an emergency landing. Evans is killed, but Cromwell is saved and nursed back to health by Klondike (Thelma Todd) with whom he falls in love. But, Klondike is engaged to Jim Armstrong (Jason Robards Sr.) who needs an operation to save his life. Now, Cromwell faces a dilemma: if he does perform the surgery and succeeds, will he be handing Jim back to Klondike?
