Uncle Frank leaves on an extended absence placing Eddie in the care of a ranch-hand and the ranch-hand's wife—Ernesto and Margaret (Ruben Blades and Dana Delany). Eddie grows into a troubled teen, and when Uncle Frank returns, he and Ernesto try to put Eddie back on track. This is James Redford's (son of Robert) debut as a director.
