Gallo Morales (Edward James Olmos) has served seven years in prison for killing a man over a cock fight. After his release, he comes home to retrieve the cock-fighting rooster his father bred but discovers that his son, Hector (Danny Nucci), has inherited the rooster and isn't going to give it up. Meanwhile, his 15-year-old daughter, Angela (Sarah Lassez), seeks refuge from the world outside, but Gallo ignores her. And then there's Gallo's wife, Juana (Sonia Braga), who just wants a normal family life. Symbolism abounds in this allegory about relationships. 1 User Review

| | Poorly orchestrated | Nachitzin 10/28/2009 | | Neither the Actors from Latin America who were not themelves Latinos, The Director or James Edward Olmos, had a clue what happens at a Catholic Graveside. After the filming an anonymous voice is heard saying a "Hail Mary" instead of the dialogue presented to the real Roman Catholic Priest "Rev. L. Ignacio Gameros, M.Div." playing the part. Too many instances of this kind of sloppy filming when it comes to Catholic Rite and Ritual have been and are witnessed on a regular basis. |
