He finally finds them, and they are in jail waiting for their hangings for yet another murder. Then, the group escapes with a hostage (Kathleen Gallant) in tow. Douglas hunts them down and kills them—only to learn that they were not the ones who killed his wife. Douglas has learned a lesson and questions whether his act of private lynching is any better than that of murder.
