Once there, she learns of the house she has inherited, but hard-drinking ex-professor Bobby Long (John Travolta) and his equally hard-drinking protege, Lawson Pines (Gabriel Macht), already reside in the house. They tell Pursy that the three of them have inherited equal shares of the house, and she moves in with them. After a rocky start, the three grow to believe in each other.
