At the age of 21, he was the object of an intensely brutal rape and murder, and Brandon's world came to an abrupt end. Brandon is also the subject of a 1997 documentary, "The Brandon Teena Story," which does a fine job of sticking with the truth in this tragedy. Hilary Swank won an Oscar for Best Actress and a nomination was received by Chloe Sevigny for Best Supporting Actress in her role as Lana who is Brandon's love interest.
