Yodlaf (Franco Nero), a mercenary and weapons dealer, joins revolutionary El Vasco (Tomas Milian) whose mission is to free Professor Xantos (Fernando Rey) and his students being held hostage by Americans in Texas. Yodlaf's real mission, however, is to find a cache of gold, and the professor knows where it is. Along the way they must deal with a gunslinger: wooden-handed, pot-smoking John (Jack Palance) and his falcon.
