The reason for the rescue soon becomes apparent to him: he is to drive the getaway car in a plot to capture the U.S. President (Roy Scheider). Lots of action—especially in the early part of the film that features crashes and car chases. Another film where ex-military men decide to take over when they're not happy with current policies—in this case, the cancellation of the "Star Wars" program.
