Fire on the Mountain   1996         N/R, 72 min. Genre: Documentary Director: Beth Gage, George Gage   Cast: Steve Kanaly   The 10th Mountain Division, formed in 1941 as one of the precautions against foreign invasion, was the only military organization specifically trained in mountain and cold weather operations. Using excellent archival footage (shot by one of the soldiers), this documentary salutes the group. They played a key role toward the end of World War II with their fighting in the Italian Alps against the German occupation forces. The latter part of the film drags a little as the post-war success stories of several of the Division are covered. A notable absence from the film: ex-Senator and presidential candidate Bob Dole, who lost the use of one arm while in the Division. Steve Kanaly narrates.
