The manager is under pressure to let Roy go to make room for a new player, Tyrone (Glenn Plummer), the team's first black player. A friendship grows between the two, and Roy shows Tyrone his "special" pitch that once gave him a short stay in the major leagues. But, Roy's days are numbered on the team.
