The Crossing   2000         TV, 90 min. The British forces, which included the well-trained German Hessians, had control of Trenton, NJ, and were poised to seize Philadelphia. The Continental forces, under George Washington (Jeff Daniels), were near collapse from decimated men, disease, and shortage of supplies. Against the recommendations of most of his Generals, Washington decided to make a sneak attack on Trenton on Christmas day. To do this, he and his troops had to cross the Delaware River while the river was freezing during a cold storm. The ensuing battle became a turning point of the war. Made for cable TV.
