| | A Curious Film | anonymous 09/10/2010 | | I would agree with the previous reviewer, that the strength of the film comes more from the actors, Robert Mitchum and Shirley MacLaine performances, than from the strength of the screenplay. The movie is slow and the interaction btwn these two people is sometimes unbelievable. Mitchum seemed out of character as a doting caregiver — he`s usually cast as a hard-nosed tough guy. But this added to my curiosity to see how the relationship between these two misfits would turn out. I would recommend this film only to those that are serious film buffs, or those who enjoy the films of Mitchum and MacLaine. |
| | interesting | moviebuff 06/17/2009 | | Slow action, not a block buster but it says more about Robert Mitchum and Shirley MacLaine and their abilities to both build and then sustain a character in this movie. When I stumbled on this movie I already knew about the lead character`s so I did not expect much from this black and white. They seem to rescue what may have been a dull and almost boring movie. It took me away for about two hours, and no I wouldn`t suggest that anyone must see this movie. It is what it is and the presence of Mitchum and MacLaine make this an experience that adds to my life. |
