Connections, or misconnections, we all experience as we go about our lives is the theme of this film about Valentine (Irene Jacob) who runs over a dog with her car. She rescues the dog and then returns it to its owner, Judge Joseph Kern (Jean-Louis Trintignant) who says that he no longer wants it. The judge is a bitter old man, but, after a series of connections, Valentine grows close to him, and they both gain happiness through their friendship. Director Kieslowski was nominated for an Oscar.
