Along his trek, Ben is joined by John and Annie Greer (Walter Reed and Gail Russell) who are heading to California, and he helps them. Also appearing on the scene are Bill Masters (Lee Marvin) and Clete (Don "Red" Barry) who know that Ben is searching for the robbers, and they want to get their hands on the loot. The intrigue continues and results in a final showdown.
