That is exactly what Michael (Nicholas Cage) discovers when he hires on as a hit man for Wayne (J.T. Walsh) to kill Wayne's wife Suzanne (Lara Flynn Boyle). Wayne has mistaken Michael for the real hit man Lyle (Dennis Hopper), but Michael takes the offer. When he meets Suzanne, Michael tells her that Wayne offered him $10,000 to kill her, and Suzanne responds by doubling the money if Michael will kill Wayne.
