Macy) is a mild-mannered family man who, unbeknownst to his wife (Tracey Ullman), has been performing hit man duties for years under his father's (Donald Sutherland) orders. Now, Alex wants to quit, but neither his mother (Barbara Bain) nor his father will let him off the hook. To make matters worse, Alex's psychiatrist, Josh Parks (John Ritter), is next on the hit list. As if that's not bad enough, Alex appears headed for a disastrous affair with 24-year-old Sarah (Neve Campbell).
