  For a glimpse of understanding the mindset of the Middle East, this movie is a must. It is the story of T.E. Lawrence's (Peter O'Toole) adventures as a young British officer when he was sent to protect his country's interests in the growing animosities between the Arabs and Turks during World War I. Among the kudos given this picture were seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Director, and Cinematography. Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif were nominated for Best Actor and Supporting Actor Oscars.
