Sabata plots with the Mexicans and lays siege on the Austrian's fortress, but he has his own plans for the stolen gold, and it does not include sharing with the Mexicans. This spaghetti Western was titled "Indigo Black" until dubbed for American release. A sequel to "Sabata," it was followed by "The Return of Sabata."

While at school, Andrei falls in love with a Polish noblewoman, Natalia Dubrov (Christine Kaufmann). Tensions between father and son rise as each must decide between loyalty for the Cossacks and love. This story was filmed in England in 1939 as "The Rebel Son." An Academy Award nomination was received for Best Musical Score.
