In this updated version of P.C. Wren's adventure, Beau Geste (Guy Stockwell) sacrifices to protect his family's name and takes the rap for a crime that he did not commit. He leaves his home and joins the French Foreign Legion where he serves under the sadistic Sergeant-Major Dagineau (Telly Savalas). Later, Beau's brother John (Doug McClure) joins him, and the other soldiers become fed up with Dagineau's brutal methods and plot a mutiny. Beau quells the mutiny just before the Legionnaires are attacked by Arab forces. All the men, except Beau and Dagineau, are killed by the Arabs, and, after a fight to the death, Geste kills Dagineau and is the only survivor.
