It took 10 years for this movie to be released in the U.S., well after Burton's death.

This is a good remake of the 1932 original Boris Karloff film. The story is about an archaeological dig during which British archaeologist John Banning (Peter Cushing) desecrates the tomb of Princess Ananka (Yvonne Furneaux) and awakens Ananka's lover Kharis (Christopher Lee) who was buried with her. Kharis, the Mummy, returns to life and follows Banning back to England to seek revenge. Dire consequences ensue when Kharis finds that Banning's wife (also played by Furneaux) very closely resembles Ananka.

A representative from Venus (Helmut Dantine) comes to Earth to warn of the dangers to mankind inherent in nuclear weapons. He befriends Susan (Patricia Neal) who helps get his message out to a population that is not interested in hearing his warnings.
