The South American drug war is the setting for this movie about freelance journalist Fran's (Lisa Blount) quest for the son, Tommy (Willie Aames), of corporate executives (Richard Bright and Karen Black). Fran and her cameraman Mark (Leonard Mann) travel to the Venezuelan jungles where they deal with brutal natives in the hostile environment. They discover a drug cartel run by corrupt Col. Brian Horne (Richard Lynch) who is holding Tommy captive, and now Fran and Mark are caught up in a life-threatening drug war.

Robert Foxworth steps into the role of Dr. Frankenstein experimenting in his lab in Ingolstadt during 1856. He experiments with nature by harnessing electricity to create his monster (Bo Svenson) from dead body parts. This monster is decent looking but doomed because of its homicidal nature. After murdering Frankenstein's assistant, the monster hides in a forest where it learns English by listening in on a family living nearby. The monster then returns to Frankenstein demanding that Frankenstein create a mate for it. Frankenstein refuses and destroys his experiment, which leads to the monster vowing revenge.
