In this offbeat satire on big business, Harry (Jeff Bridges) is a low-level corporate loser who decides to get even with the "system," including his rich corporate in-laws. The film was re-edited and rereleased twice under the titles of "American Success" and "Success."

My Own Private Idaho 1991 R, 102 min. Genre: Drama
Director: Gus Van Sant Cast: River Phoenix, Keanu Reeves, James Russo, William Richert, Rodney Harvey, Chiara Caselli, Michael Parker, Udo Kier, Grace Zabriskie, Flea
Beautiful photography and fleeting images of nature highlight this story about Mike Waters (River Phoenix), a narcoleptic prostitute whose only friend is a hustler, Scott (Keanu Reeves). Scott is the son of Portland's mayor who, obviously, disapproves of his son's lifestyle, but Scott and Mike set off together in search of Mike's mother before going their separate ways. Strange, sex-filled film.

Winter Kills 1979 R, 97 min. Genre: Mystery / Thriller
Director: William Richert Cast: Jeff Bridges, John Huston, Anthony Perkins, Sterling Hayden, Eli Wallach, Dorothy Malone, Ralph Meeker, Richard Boone, Elizabeth Taylor, Erin Gray
Based on the Richard Condon novel, this is a good story about the investigation of a President's assassination, which turns up many surprises. This mystery/thriller was not received well the first time around but had a better viewing after re-editing and re-releasing. John Huston turns in a fine performance as the assassinated President's father Pa Kegan who is also the father of Nick (Jeff Bridges) who, 19 years later, tries to solve the case.
