Based on the hit Broadway show, this is a delightful film with Al Capp's cartoon characters of Dogpatch brought to life. Marks) to Evil Eye Fleagle (Al Nesor), Marryin' Sam (Stubby Kaye), and Sen. Jack S. Phogbound (Ted Thurston). When the U.S. Congress selects the hillbilly town of Dogpatch to test the Atomic bomb, Li'l Abner goes with his Mammy and Pappy to Washington, D.C., to persuade the government to spare Dogpatch by arguing that Mammy's Yokumberry tonic gives the town value that cannot be replaced. Meanwhile, Li'l Abner and Daisy Mae encounter problems in their romance that, hopefully, will be overcome.
