After her husband's death, Edna became a strong force in changing laws relevant to illegitimacy. The heavy melodrama won an Academy Award for Best Interior Set Decoration and was nominated for three others, including Best Picture and Actress.

  This is just a wonderful film and I cannot believe that Gladys George wasen't nominated for an academy award for her supurb performance. What were the voters thinking that year.?
