Contestants include blonde redneck Sally Kendoo (Mandy Moore) and show-tune loving terrorist Omer Obeidi (Sam Golzari). The President agrees to a live presentation, and Omer prepares to assassinate him during his appearance on live TV.

| | Left me gazing at the stars reconsidering art and life | Iowa Girl 11/01/2011 | | The obvious bounty of actors/actresses did not prove to overtake the life story of Basquiat. I first watched this movie in a Senior Seminar at Drake University in Des Moines, IA. The class was Writing about Art, something like that, and my two passions were rolled into one semester of intelligent thinking, observation and writing. This movie made a huge impact on me, and maybe it was the timing -- one semester past 9-11, but it made me reevaluating the intersections of life and art, artists and business, and the delicate line that seems to pull each away from the other. Love David Bowie! |

Stan Lee's comic book character, Spider-Man, comes to the screen backed by super special effects and gripping live-action shots. The story begins with orphaned Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) living in Queens, New York, with his Aunt May (Rosemary Harris) and Uncle Ben (Cliff Robertson). Peter is leading the life of a normal student–until he goes on a school trip and is bitten by a genetically altered spider. Now, Peter finds that he has unusual powers. But, using those powers is not that easy, and Peter does not make use of his new talent when a burglar murders Uncle Ben. Then Peter remembers that Uncle Ben told him, "With great power, there must also come great responsibility." That's what it takes, and now Peter uses those extraordinary powers to fight crime. However, the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) is out there ready to stop any of Peter's good deeds.
