Film producer Ben (Robert De Niro) contends with stresses involved in trying to put together a major movie, "Fiercely," starring Sean Penn (Himself). In the process, Ben must deal with drug-addicted director Jeremy (Michael Wincott) and no-nonsense studio boss Lou (Catherine Keener) and then persuade superstar Bruce Willis (Himself) to shave his beard. At the same time, Ben's ex-wife Kelly (Robin Wright Penn) is sleeping with his friend Scott (Stanley Tucci), and those are just a few of the problems Ben must deal with in this satire on the Hollywood film industry.
