When a WAVE (Wanda Hendrix) enters the club looking for a lost boyfriend, she immediately catches the eye of Jimmy (Edmond O'Brien) but shuns him because of his deadbeat lifestyle. To win her love, Jimmy enters a boxing contest to win $100, and the chase begins.

  Chinese Princess Mei Ling (Barbara Jean Wong) visits Charlie Chan's (Roland Winters) home and gives Chan's chauffer Birmingham Brown (Mantan Moreland) a ring to show to Chan. While waiting for Chan, Mei Ling is killed in Chan's living room but manages to write the name "Captain K" on a piece of paper. Police Sergeant Bill Davidson (Warren Douglas) helps Chan investigate, and they are aided by reporter Peggy Cartwright (Louise Currie) and Chan's son Tommy (Victor Sen Yung). They learn that Mei Ling had $1,000,000 in her possession, and the money is missing. Will they be able to solve the case? This is a remake of "Mr. Wong in Chinatown," which starred Boris Karloff in the role of Mr. Wong.

  Captain Cassidy (Cary Grant) commands a United States submarine during World War II. The plan involves putting ashore meteorologist Raymond (John Ridgely) who will obtain the needed data. The submarine leaves San Francisco on Christmas Eve, and the voyage will prove harrowing as the crew sets out to fulfill its mission. This film was released during World War II, and, while propaganda is obvious, it is still an exciting story.

Helen turns to alcohol and, after the Stock Market crash in 1929, ends up in Bellevue Hospital. But, Helen rises above her problems and regains her stardom. Songs include "Sunny Side of the Street" and "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man." (sung by Gogi Grant).
