This sequel to "Wall Street" (1987) is set in 2008 when the U.S. economy takes a sharp decline. Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) has just been released from prison after serving eight years for financial crimes and begins an alliance with Jake Moore (Shia LaBeouf) who is engaged to marry Gordon's estranged daughter Winnie (Carey Mulligan). Gordon is preparing to publish a book that he had written while in prison in which he takes revenge against Wall Street kingpin Bretton James (Josh Brolin), and Jake also wants revenge against James because he has taken over Jake's firm. Meanwhile, as Jake tries unsuccessfully to reunite Gordon and Winnie, Gordon's true colors begin to emerge.
