Patrick (Robert Thompson) lies in a hospital bed in a deep coma, having been in this state since he electrocuted his mother and her lover. Though comatose, he has telekinesis powers, and when a new nurse, Kathy (Susan Penhaligon), is assigned to his case, he falls in love and sends messages to her via a typewriter. Likewise, those who would try to shorten his life end up dead. When Patrick knows that his death is imminent, he tries to get Kathy to commit suicide so that she can join him.

The cult's food is sanitized blood from their "dairy farm," where the "cows" are humans that provide the blood to be processed. Kate is believed to be a descendent of the cult's founder, and it is hoped that she will become one of the group. A different kind of vampire film.
