During their trip, Huck and Jim run into con-men "the King" (Walter Connolly) and "the Duke" (William Frawley) who impersonate royalty as part of their swindling schemes. True to Twain's story.

Luise Rainer, who won an Oscar for Best Actress the previous year for her role in "The Great Ziegfeld ," won an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in this film. An Oscar was also received for Best Cinematography, and the film was nominated for Best Picture and Director.

Alabam's agent thinks her image will be improved if she has a mother, so it's off to the old ladies' home to choose one. Of course, she picks Patsy, and both are helped by the choice.

Now the daughter is visiting, and Apple Annie needs help, so she goes to gambler Dave the Dude (Warren William) to set her up for the visit. Now the fun begins. Good flick. Sequel: "Lady By Choice." Capra remade the story in 1961 as "Pocketful of Miracles."

Warren is about to marry Gladys (Jean Harlow) but now postpones the wedding and hires Bill Chandler (William Powell) to marry Gladys in name only and then pursue Connie. The plan is for Gladys to sue Connie for alienation of affections and get her to drop the lawsuit against Warren. But, plans backfire when true love enters the picture. Remade in 1946 as "Easy to Wed."
